CHARACTER
NAME: Sister Monica Argento; Codename: Black Widow
SERIES: Trinity Blood
TIMELINE: During Act 42 Le Pacte des Loups; Before Butler appears before her after Esther and Schera escape her
BACKGROUND:
There is not a whole lot of background on Monica Argento. She appears well into the manga series as an AX Officer. She accompanies Tres Iqus to hunt down Schera and Esther when they are fugitives. After she has finally lost the girls’ trail she pauses to think about her past for only a few pages. It shows her with much longer hair in front of a grave speaking to the headstone. She has lost whoever is in the ground as well as a child from her womb. Still standing at the grave she reveals that she was somehow apart of the mafia, the Cosa Nostra of Sicily, and cuts her hair off.
The scene skips and shows her bound in the cage with a rose collar around her throat. It’s a device that will keep her in line as she has tried to kill the leaders of the Catholic Church for their involvement in the cleaning up of the mafia. Caterina Sforza, the Iron Lady and Head of AX, was the one woman she couldn’t kill. Now Caterina controls her through the collar that will blow up her head should she disobey orders or attempt any more assassination attempts towards the leaders of the Church.
Ah. I found this after I had typed the background. Chara Profile
ABILITIES:
Monica is a physically fit woman that can fight with blades, specifically the two rose blades she carries. However, she is also a ‘witch’ or a ‘mutant’ as the Methuselah, Schera called her.
Her mutation is “Material Permeability” which allows her to phase through matter. She is so strong that she is able to teleport herself even through the ground using this ability. She can phase out her entire body or only a portion of it as she does when she is attacked to spare herself injury. The downside to her ability is that if the thing her molecules are merged with is attacked she feels the damage herself and may possibly even be wounded, though it is more likely to scramble and delay her than take her out of commission.
As for the thirty percent limit, I think it would be best simply to ask you, the mods, what you think. I had originally planned for her to only be able to pass through thinner walls and doors rather than floors or simply traveling in the ground as she might normally, but that seems to be more than 30%. The other thing I was thinking was perhaps she could only phase one or two sections of her body at one time. Please let me know what you think would be appropriate.
PERSONALITY:
Monica Argento is a bitch. There is no way around it. She kills without mercy or remorse. She takes delight in annoying and fighting her allies. Despite being an AX officer and a nun she would like nothing more than to see the downfall of the leaders of the Church.
Being formerly of the Cosa Nostra, or mafia, Monica has been exposed to cruelty and dirty dealings her whole life. Rather than shirk and shrink away from that like a criminal she holds herself high and embraces the dark side of life to achieve her goals. She has no qualms with killing. In fact, she enjoys the process of the hunt and destruction of prey a little too much. She is not simply a murderess though. She waits for her prey to give her a reason to kill them rather than capture them. She gives them multiple chances to stay away from her rose blades, but once they’ve ruined their good luck nothing is going to stop her from cutting them down. She puts an almost careless trust in her own abilities to phase through the weapons that attack her, but also seems to rely on her partner in the single operation she’s been shown in. She is fast in efficient in carrying out Caterina’s orders.
Monica is not a ‘people person’. She tolerates Caterina Sforza and follows her orders because of the bomb strapped to her neck and the respect Caterina earned for capturing her rather than dying at her hand. She is ‘the one woman that Monica couldn’t kill’. She has the strength and the countenance that Monica admires even through her hatred. She goes so far as to bow to Caterina when taking her orders. Even in light of this slightly subservient action, Monica obviously carries out her orders in her own fashion. She is highly aware of her body and its attractiveness, wearing modified priest’s robes rather than a nun’s habit. She is showing off what she is rather than covering it up with something that would imply innocence and virginity.
Monica has no love for the human race and definitely is not one for altruism or sacrifice, but I believe she would help against the virus nonetheless for the sake of the children that could contract it. From the scene in the graveyard where she cuts her hair and speaks of the child she lost from her womb, I believe that she would help to keep other mother’s from feeling the way she had to at the death of their children, not because she had any actually had any desire to save lives.
